A lottery ticket holder in South Carolina has scooped the largest jackpot in US history, the $1.6bn Mega Millions prize!

No one won Friday’s Mega Millions draw, meaning lottery fever is set to grow as the prize rolls over to an eye-watering $1.6bn.

The latest Mega Millions jackpot turns out to be the largest in California history and third largest in the history of the Mega Millions game. After revision, the jackpot has risen to $543 million, so the winner will receive even more money than expected. 

The latest Mega Millions jackpot winner, Richard Wahl, 47, takes his prize in cash in hand instead of the full value over 30 years. His ticket was worth $533 million and he will receive only $175 million. 

The massive Mega Millions jackpot of $521 million has won, the ticket being sold in New Jersey.
