Cash Prizes, I hear you say?! Yes… It applies to so-called “Must Be Won” lotto games – which are heldback after the jackpot rolls over 5 times. In these games, if no-players matches all 6 main numbers to win the jackpot outright, the cash is shared among lower-tier prize winners. Now only 2 numbers will be enough for a prize. It means around a million players per draw could collect £5 – in addition to a free lucky dip.
We know an unexpected extra fiver isn’t life changing and could only be spent on just a box of chocolates, a book or flowers, or even to treat a friend to a coffee – But it could really put a smile on someone’s face to share and enjoy these little moments,” said a Camelot representative Neil Brocklehurst. While dozens more people will still have the chance to bag a massive £1M as part of a series of special draws; If no one does scoop the jackpot, it’s rolled over to a ‘Must be Won’ draw where the cash is shared amongst all of the winners.
Other changes include three “Big September” draws, kicking off with a special £20m “Must Be Won” game on 5 September.
This will be closely followed by 2 EuroMillions draws – 1 guaranteeing 20 millionaires (18 September 2020) and 1 with a boosted jackpot of more than £100m (25 September 2020).
This will include those who match 2 numbers from November 2020. As a result, Lotto estimates that around a million people will scoop £5 (in addition to their usual free lucky dip) in these Lotto ‘Rolldowns’.
