EuroMillions reaches jackpot limit
The EuroMillions jackpot has rolled over for a 19th time, reaching the jackpot limit. The jackpot for Friday’s draw is now 188 million euros.
The Euromillions lottery has continued its longest-ever rollover streak.
No EuroMillions ticket-holders matched all five main numbers and two Lucky Star numbers in Tuesday’s draw. The grand prize now stands at 188,000,000 euros.
The winning numbers were 02, 33, 42, 47, 48, and the ‘Lucky Star’ numbers were 1 and 2.
This huge amount is the EuroMillions jackpot limit. The jackpot will now stay at that level for four draws and cannot increase.
Tuesday’s draw did still create some winners. Life-changing prizes were still won, including one UK winner who banked £3,600,000.
Players have a higher chance to win big because of the cap
As the jackpot is now capped, players bank bigger prizes for matching five numbers and just one Lucky Star. For instance, any money that would have gone into boosting the jackpot will be shared among players in the next prize tier with winners. Additionally, players are urged to get their tickets early to be in with a chance of banking a life-changing prize.
To date, the €190 million jackpot cap has been reached four times. Prior to January 2012, the jackpot cap was set at €185 million and that cap was reached just once.
The largest amount of money won through the EuroMillions is £161,000,000, which went to Colin and Chris Weir from Largs in Scotland in 2011.
Half of all money spent by players goes to the prize fund. Furthermore, 28 per cent go to good causes, 12 per cent to the Government as duty and five per cent to retailers.
